Performance characteristics of flax spunlace nonwovens

Flax is an annual herb, which can be divided into three types: flax for fiber, flax for oil and flax for both oil and fiber.

Flax is the earliest natural plant fiber used by humans, with a history of more than 10,000 years. Flax is a pure natural fiber, which is more and more valued by human beings because of its remarkable characteristics such as sweat absorption, good air permeability and harmlessness to human body.

The main value of flax: flax fiber has unique advantages such as strong water absorption, fast heat dissipation, friction resistance, high temperature resistance, non-flammability, non-cracking, low conductivity, low dust absorption rate, antibacterial health care, etc.

The spunlace non-woven fabric made of flax by spunlace process can greatly improve the softness of flax fiber spunlace non-woven fabric through blending with different materials and process adjustment. For example, viscose fiber, bamboo fiber, tencel fiber, etc., can make the flax fiber spunlace nonwoven fabric softer and more elastic.

Flax spunlace non-woven fabric has strong dry, breathable, moisture-conducting and heat-dissipating properties, temperature adjustment, anti-allergic, and antibacterial functions. Due to the good hygroscopicity of flax, it can absorb water equivalent to 20 times its own weight. Linen fiber fabric is known as "natural air conditioner". Flax is excellent at dissipating heat because it is the only bundle of natural fibres. Bundle fibers are formed by the adhesion of flax single cells with the help of colloid. Because there is no more air left, the air permeability of flax fabric is as high as 25%, so its thermal conductivity (breathability) is excellent. And can quickly and effectively reduce the skin surface temperature 4-8 ℃.

The spunlace nonwoven fabric and facial mask fabrics made of flax fibers have good health care functions. It has a unique antibacterial effect. Flax is a plant of the Cryptoceae family, which can emit a faint fragrance, and can kill many bacteria and inhibit the growth of various parasites. The scientific experiments done by the contact method prove that: linen products have significant antibacterial effect, and the antibacterial rate against international standard strains such as Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Candida albicans can reach more than 65%. The antibacterial rate is higher than 90%. The mummies of ancient Egyptian pharaohs were wrapped in amazingly strong fine linen, which has preserved them intact to this day.

Contact test: Survival of bacteria on three fibers at different times.

There are two types of flax fiber: bleached and raw, both of which have roughly the same function. The former is artificially bleached, while the latter retains the original state and color of the fiber. Flax fiber has good strength, the specific strength at break is about 4.4CN/Dtex, and the elongation at break is 2.50%~3.30%.

These performance characteristics all determine that flax fiber has quite excellent advantages when used in the manufacture of spunlace non-woven fabrics, mask cloths, dry and wet wipes and other products. If you are interested in flax fiber non-woven fabrics, please feel free to contact Proyons!
